Pride History Books

June is Pride month, and CIRCLE wants our LGBTQ+ members to know they are supported.

We know many of our families are always looking for good educational resources, so we have gathered together a few good history books on Pride. There are many other great books and websites out there, as well.

Links may be affiliate links, which help us to fund various aspects of CIRCLE admin at no charge to you.

Gay and Lesbian History for Kids

While this book does have plenty of black and white photographs of famous or historically important individuals, it is very text heavy, so a grown-up may need to help. The book does include fun activities to accompany various individuals, such as building a teleidocscope, singing the blues, or making a song parody, as well as additional resources.

The Gay Agenda: A Modern Queer History and Handbook

This is a full color book infographic style book geared for middle and high school readers.

Queer: A Graphic History

This is a black and white graphic novel style book with more blocks of text than your typical graphic novel. It discusses both history and terminology.

A Queer History of the United States for Young People

The young people’s version of A Queer History of the United States is written for high school age students. This version is newer than the original full version and has more information available for later dates.
